Lake Superior PP and Sault Ste Marie

Lake Superior Provincial Park.
Jamison purchase a bow and arrow set fromWawa and Peter purchase a sling shot...they will be perfect for their treehouse back home!
We stopped for some local beer to have with our Japanese treats (very international of us). Keiko sent us these snacks from Japan and were recommended to have with beer. Cheers!
Pat was teaching the boys how to start a campfire with out his secret cheat (laundry lint and vaseline). They did a great job!
This campsite was also on the beach, a more rocky beach, but that means rock skipping! (or if you are Jamison you throw the rocks up in the air and the hit you in the head. That is what we call gravity)
Beautiful sunsets...and dorky posed pictures.

Next hike, Sand River Trail. The boys wanted to hike on "Old Woman River Trail" because they didnt think that their "old mother" would be able to do it. Sorry guys, your old mother could out-hike you any day, atleast when you are 8.
This hike has many cool waterfalls. The boys could not imagine portaging around these with all of your stuff and a canoe!
Slippery rocks+ waterfall= painful death. You must hold hands.
About 2 miles in there was a bathroom sign. I was curious, this is what I found. I guess if you got to go, you got to go! What? no tp or hand sanitizer?
United States representing! Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota!
One of the final hikes were to the Agawa Rock pictographs along a rock wall. We could not stress this enough to the boys...."death and injury!" Use extreme caution!!!!!
Pictured here is the Mishibizhiw, or Great Lynx who controlled Lake Superior, and below two giant serpents called Mishi-ginebikoog in the Ojibwe language.
And here is where they are located....death and injury boys. I dont want that on this trip!
Well, everybody survived and the boys picked up some new friends. Spot (the polar bear) brought home Rocco, the racoon. Spot is trying to show him the ropes but is not having the best of luck.
Knaw made friends with Squirt, the ride home is going to be stinky!
Our final stop on our journey is Saulte Ste Marie Locks. After a large meal at Mikes Diner, the boys were not all that interested in walking to the locks. But we made them. They were not thrilled.
Pat found a new favorite hat at Joe's Outdoor Adventure Store. I will be able to spot him in a large crowd! But the deer wont.
And now back to America. We were waiting in line to go through the border and realized that the boys were in Canada and the adults we in the USA!
American side of the locks. All Peter wanted was time in the hotel swimming pool. And he is stinky...so off we go! A great trip was had by all! But we are glad to be heading home!.
